I stuck with Movies for my theme…mainly because that is my favorite medium.
So here are the top 5 villians I would never want to meet face to face in the dark, middle of the day, with my mommy and a blanket….
1. Hannibal Lecter.
I was in Officer Basic when I saw Silence of the Lambs. I slept the next couple of nights with my lights on. There is no good in this man. The other movie sequels were not near as deep and good as Silence but he still scared the bejeezus out of you.
2. Darth Vader.
The quintessential villian. The uniform (I know, God wired me this way) is untouchable – black cape, helmet, eyes….Good night, what a bad guy. As a seven-year-old, he scared the H-E-double hockey sticks out of me. Pllllllleeeeeeasssse, George Lucas – don’t screw up Vader in Episode III!!
3. Jaws.
I couldn’t swim in the ocean until I was 20 because of this movie. “But he’s not a villian!” Yeah, tell that to Roy Scheider.
4. Predator.
The Ultimate Killing Machine. The Alien vs. Predator movie turned him into some sissy, good guy – save the human woman, skirt wearing hero. The Predator movies got it right – a ruthless warrior that recognizes a fellow warrior.
5. Agent Smith
I know, I know, I know…there are probably a handful of other villians that could take this spot. Hal from 2001, Alien, Dr. Evil from Austin Powers come immediately to mind. But throw me a friggin’ bone, here, people!! I like Agent Smith for his intelligence and interaction with the hero and audience. I love the tone – the ruthlessness of both action and words. And yes, I thought the last two sequels in this trilogy were in dire need of help.

Hey, Jaws was just a hungry animal, not smart like the sharks in Deep Blue Sea! Now the SNL landshark, THAT was a villain. very deceitful–”telegram!”
I didn’t even MENTION Smith, and now I’m thinking he tops Freddy. The movie category was the hardest for me to narrow down…..

Nice Touch with the pics. I wish I had done that. And Jaws was darned evil. I had him swimming around in the back of my head as the main reason I wouldn’t swim in the ocean for years. I mean, I was 8 or so when I saw it and I haven’t gone swimming in the ocean until…well…nevermind…

Good list. I didn’t even think about Jaws. The worst dream I have is one where I’m out in the ocean, with nobody around, and the shark eats me. It wakes me up screaming every time. Predator was a good one too, but Hannibal was too clichet.

Grant, got a blogging question for you. How do I post more than one pic to the same post. I know how to use Hello to post one pick to a post, but how do you post more than one?
BTW, good list. I thought about this and if you had an Animal Villian catagory, what would your T5 be besides Jaws. Mine:
Jaws, Velociraptor (see Jurassic Park), Cujo, The lions in “Ghost in the Darkness”, and …..need help

I’d point you to Orangejack Blogging University link on my sidebar for your blogging question. Awesome resource there. IF the pictures you want to put in one post aren’t already on the web – you’re gonna have to post them on the web (with Hello), then link them with an <_img src_> code and address in the post. confused yet??
As for the animal villians – The Deep Blue Sea Shark, Alien, Spider in Arachnaphobia, the worm thing in Wrath of Khan…okay – I’m done…happy place, happy place, happy place…

Thanks Grant. I thought you had to do it in the post, but that was the part I was not sure about.
I thought of one more….Predator

No, the all time worst villian of any movie is Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.
I realize this was first a book, but the whole notion of losing your brain in a mental hospital is terrifying.
After seeing this movie I had no problem swimming in the ocean, I just couldn’t face anyone involved in law enforcement and/or mental health care.
….not that these were people in my neighborhood all the time anyway….

No one mentioned LOTR monsters. The Watcher scares me to death, jumping out of the water like that…ick. Shelob is pretty darn freaky. They both are frightening, I think its a tie for me which one’s scarier.
Also, have you ever seen Alfred Hitchcock’s “Birds”? When I first saw that I never wanted to go outside again.
