I’ve been to Brazil 3 times, Eastern Europe once. This by no means makes me an expert - but I definitely have opinions.

GE’s List of Cross-Cultural Phenomenoms

1. All 12 to 13 year old boys are annoying. Hearing the same presentation for the 36th time allows one to observe other things. Flicking of hair, picking on a girl that you like, being annoying, and generally acting like a mosquito is a universal trait of all 12-13 year old boys.

2. Dodgeball is awesome. You would have thought we brought gold when we taught them dodgeball. We taught them the 5 D’s of dodgeball. Dodge, duck, dive, throw, and dodge.

3. Minimum Wage Workers have minimum wage attitudes. Some lady working the free internet booth in the mall sealed this deal for me. Of course, if I had to wear a matching jumpsuit of the company logo - I think I’d be pretty bitter too.

4. Somewhere, somehow an American has a better idea of how something should be done.

5. There is no better way to talk about anything than over a cup of coffee. Brazilian is preferred.
