Schatzy’s last Sunday is rapidly approaching and tonight we had a prayer time specifically for the new pastor, our prayer team, and our search team.
I got the fun job of bringing the devo/talking head. What do you say? There is so much that is good about Grace right now. For the first time in about a decade we aren’t fighting with each other or somebody else. (Ok, the NWA was in good fun…mostly.)
We are growing. We have new ADULT believers, getting vulnerable in their life groups. We have more folks in Life Groups than ever. Work areas? We’ve got a couple - he he, if you’ve got people, you’ve got work areas.
So I camped in Acts 13 where Barnabas and Saul are commissioned. Why? I mean, what does commissioning missionaries have to do with a time of transition in a church?
Alot actually…from Acts 9 to 15, the Church is anything but stable. Leadership changes were plenty due to persecution, the known hierarchial structure of the San Hedrin was abandoned for a more fluid, plurality approach not just on a corporate level but on a community level. Experience, genuineness, and calling become more important than education and lineage.
And Antioch made her decisions by praying, fasting, and worshipping. And they didn’t stop ministry to make decisions. Seems like they were learning on the fly.
Lots of parallels, don’t you think? Cool time to be at Grace…and I still think Schatzy’s a putz.

I needed this reminder, even though I’m not at Grace I can see the parallels where I am. Blessings Brother!
