My good friend Justin Regner and I rode yesterday…15 miles – which really isn’t all that impressive – but the terrain we did it over was freakin’ awesome.
I’m going to take my camera the next time. The above picture is just one I found on the ‘net, but this is where the uphill trail ended. It’s an over 200 foot drop, in case you were wondering. Now why am I telling you this story?
Well, there were two trails at the top of the hill – one downhill and one uphill. Reg and I took the uphill trail – which resulted in us eventually finding a 2 mile downhill run going 40 mph on a bike…awesome, scary, will do it again.
Which of course, left the question – where did the downhill trail lead? We hopped in the truck to find out. And we found what we thought was the trailhead.
So Steve calls, he going to take the same run yesterday after work. He asks me – hey – you know that downhill trail up at the top?
“Yes!”
“Where does it go?”
“The Skate Park.”
“That’s what Matt Sellers says as well.”
Welllllllllll, it didn’t. It winds down around a corner, then you come to a rock and see this.

This is where it ended. There’s a 20 foot drop after this which leads to a small ledge that turns another corner.
Steve somehow climbs down the tree with his bike – yeah, I could write it but you wouldn’t believe me.
Around that corner there is another 200 foot drop to the trail. All shale rock.
And he realizes that he has to go back.
And this is how I almost killed Steve! He showed up an hour late to our good-bye party for Schatz….
Good thing he’s a forgiving chap!!!
At least he didn’t break his elbow.

Awesome stuff, that looked like a cool ride (especially as you took the correct turn). Good to know there’s other youth workers who love bikes!
