Alas, all good things must come to an end…and the winning streak for Cooper’s baseball team is over …at 11.

They played two games tonight - one at 6, which they won and the other at 9…which…well, they got smoked. 11-1 is still good enough for regular season champs and the number 1 seed in the tournament this weekend.

So as we approach the end of our first season of baseball, here are my thoughts…

1. I love our coach this year. Actually all of them…even Wayne. Good guys, taught fundamentals, pushed the kids, emphasized playing the game right.

2. League officials (non-umps) are pansies. Schedule was never right, hardly ever communicated, stayed hidden in the office during conflicts, never seemed to know the rules.

3. Umpires - they’re teens. Overall - okay. Not great. The pansies in number 2 did them a great dis-service by not training them. They recovered enough for a 7 year old league.

4. Parents - we were fortunate. All of parents were awesome and behaved themselves, always encouraging. Some of our oppenents were ridiculous. Half the time I wanted to go over there and say - “You know - you were awesome in the Wizard of OZ!”

5. Snack bar - pretty good. Hot dogs were excellent but would have loved Coke products, not Pepsi. Pretzels were not that great but HUGE candy selection. Great kids worked behind the counter, too…
