Our next sermon series after Ephesians will be called….
A Life That Rocks…
At some point I’ll post the schedule, but it’s basically a journey through the Inner Disciplines and the LIFE Group/Community Disciplines. We are going to ask every LIFE group to pause on what they normally do, and let’s all go through this one together.
Good idea, or not? I normally don’t like “everybody is doing the same thing” approach. In fact, I loathe it. It’s often a lazy way of leading…relieving the leader of discerning and discovery the story that God is weaving in the community in front of them.
But I also recognize that there are times when the corporate community of God needs a common place to engage Him.
Hopefully, this will be one of those times.

Actually, I don’t think it is something to necessarily loathe. If the leader is active, then it will just be a spring board into the lives of the people with whom they are journeying. These disciplines are something that should be revisited every once in a while — it’s amazing to me how many Christians don’t even realize the purpose or need for fasting, prayer, etc — it’s also amazing to me how many of the disciplines we neglect even though we know better. It’s a great way to frame your life group — and with the schedule posted, people can be thinking ahead and then be more engaged in the sermon.

Let me clarify — when I say “revisited.” I don’t mean just practiced every once in a while, I mean revisited in the sense of exploring deeper, understanding better, reminding ourselves of things we have neglected.
