This is just classic SBC in the states…
The short of it is this:
The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention has unanimously passed a resolution encouraging Christian parents to look into whether their local public schools are involved in homosexual activism and, where this is the case, to pursue alternative choices for their children’s education. The measure submitted to the convention by messenger Mark Cole urges Texas Southern Baptists to investigate whether the public schools in their area are promoting homosexuality and, if so, to seek more suitable options for their kids — options such as private Christian schools or home education. Dr. Gary Ledbetter, a spokesman for the Texas Convention, says the public school resolution is similar to one passed last summer at the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.
The response of the religious in Jesus’ day to the ‘unclean’ and ‘unrighteous’ was guilt, isolationism, withdrawal, judgement, and emotive, accusatory language. And Jesus hated that more than he did the ‘unclean’ and the ‘unrighteous.’
Dr. Ledbetter, I urge you to re-read Jesus and re-think your position. Is withdrawal, judgement, isolation, and emotive, accusatory language going to introduce the ‘unclean’ and the ‘unrighteous’ to Jesus? Their biggest problem isn’t their sexual orientation, it’s that they don’t know how crazy in love Jesus is with them.
Will this really help?

“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” - John 17:15-18
Kinda hard to spread the kingdom when you’re surrounded by believers all the time. Taking kids out of one of the richest ministry environments for the excuse of “protecting” them is, in my opinion, one of the biggest parenting failures.
