Preaching Narnia

November 22nd, 2005 · 4 Comments · 36 views

We (Grace Church) will be “journeying” through Narnia this December - coinciding with the motion picture release on December 9th. I love the idea. I love the books. There are some major theological issues that we get to unpack with this series.

The rub is - the movie has to be good. If it is average - it might as well suck. It has to be good from a production standpoint, a sound standpoint, special effects, acting, script, and directing standpoint. In short - it can’t be like most of the junk that is coming out of Hollywood.

So…I’m a little nervous but the more trailers I see, the more I like it. I want the White Witch to be seductive and terrible. I want Aslan to scare the pants off of me the first time I see him in the movie, but I want to irresistably trust him.

Mainly because I think that is exactly how evil and God are in real life.

That’s cool. I’ve never read the series and started a few weeks ago. I’m on the Dawn Treader now.

I’ve read a lot from Disney and other Chrisitian groups who have been monitoring the film. All accounts are that we won’t be disappointed at all. They are keeping it very true to the book.

We’ll see, but I have more confidence than in the past. Honestly, I think they realized after the Passion that it’s okay to give it to us straight.

It seems some major ministerial muscles is being thrown into the promotion of the film, as they showed previews on the big screen at Promise Keepers.

And, on something completely different, I have nominated you for “Best Religous Blog” on http://weblogawards.org/

    You deserve it!

The above is proof that one should actually wake up before posting comments.
