Okay - I’m seriously going to go after my own domain and host my blog there. I’m likin’ the idea. I’m liking the toolin’ around on Wordpress I’m doing….
Now the hard part…finding a domain name. So I hereby open up the “Name G’s New Domain Contest.” I’ll put a permalink in the sidebar so that you can vote early and often.
But first - nominations. Add a comment, put your idea. It has to be AVAILABLE to be valid. You can check availability at register.com.
possible domain ideas….
g-splace.com
thegsplace.com
gluvsplace.com
cupofg.com
cupofg.us
strongcupofgrant.com
strongcupofgluv.com
strongcupofg.com
thegluv.com
gsjava.com
ventig.comgsventi.com
ventifaith.com
Does thegluv.com sound too dorky? As I write this - I realize that I made it my email address - so if I had/have an issue with it…it’s probably a little late. Carrying on…
I’ve also toyed with the idea of using the word “strata” - it’s a geological term for layers. earthy faith with multiple layers. (might be too much of a stretch….but…)
grants-strata.com
strataofgrant.com
yamammaplayedastrata.com
yourfaceisastrata.com
yourmomthinksimhotwheniplaymystratacaster.com
Of course, that last one opens up a whole new set of ideas I would run with if I was single…
yourgirlfriendsayshi.com
dontbothergoinghome.com
None of those are really helpful for long term employment, but funny.
Another cool idea is to play with the .us tag instead of .com
theenemyis.us
myzitsarefullofp.us
gorideab.us
getofftheb.us
gotrunoverbyabigb.us
Alright…time to hear from the masses.

It’s unfortunate that “gspot.com” isn’t available.
Oh c’mon! I hear the hands slapping the foreheads now…everyone was thinking it. I’m just the only one blasphemous enough to say it!

Odds on who would be the first to post on ‘gspot’:
Nelson - even
Galli - 2 to 1
Anderson - 2 to 1
Boehm - even
Congrats, Nelson, for confirming what we already believed about you! hahahahah….:)

Thanks! In my circle of friends, I have the official title of “That Guy Who Says What Shouldn’t Be Said But That Everyone Thinks In Their Head”. It’s a long title, but appropriate…unlike most of my comments.

Here’s some food for thought. I posted about this a while ago.
My advice from that post is to go with something that is:
1. Easy to remember
2. Easy to spell
3. Not confusing
4. You can get both .com and .org (if possible)
For you #4 may not apply so much. Go check the post and let me know what you think.

Oh, don’t buy from register.com. GoDaddy.com is cheaper and they are easy to use. Also, I have a friend doing reasonable hosting rates if you’re interested. Email me.

gluvs.us is not taken.
I though of some others but I wouldn’t suggest entering them into your web explorer - TRUST ME!!
By the way - now that I’m single can I borrow your addresses for single guys?

Had I not been out of town on a crappy cell card connection I would have beat Nelson to the punch on the g-spot name — I am, after all, the Italian Stallion!
Be sure whoever you get to register you sets you up as owner and technical contact — there are some non-scrupulous registrars out there.

My dos pesos — get away from the java/coffee theme — too unoriginal. Gluv is OK for email, I don’t like it for the domain name though. So, that’s what I don’t like — now ideas for good ones — hmm, g-rants.com???
