Instead of church tomorrow morning, we had it tonight. It was a great idea. Have this huge table set up with huge cups of grape juice, cheese, bread, and grapes - break a church-wide fast together. Spend half the service looking backward, half of it looking forward, worship, prayer walls, and dreaming about 2006 with index cards as families.

Great idea…the implementation was not as great. And I’d like to tell you all the reasons why but it just doesn’t matter.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to be done with a year. For me, 2005 felt like a year in the mud…twice as much work to get half of the results. Two steps forward, two steps back over and over again. I’m ready to walk through 2006.
