Rob posted on this earlier today but I have a question, especially after ESPN’s article on the matter. After all his legal troubles, VT says one more time and he’s out.
Vick is arrested on Dec 17th. The Gator Bowl was played on Jan 2nd. So VT’s big disciplinary action was to kick Vick off the team AFTER they played their bowl game?? I’ve got a word for you VT and Beamer and the rest of your administration…
Spineless.
Completely spineless.
Thanks for reaffirming your values to the rest of the world.

Grant, don’t know if you saw my last update I put on that post. I was wondering the same thing. I know a lot of coaches “look the other way” come bowl season, but that doesn’t excuse it. I think the high road VT appears to be taken is not so high after all. Very dissapointing.

I just saw it - so you beat me to the punch!! ha haah…
I really thought a lot more of Frank Beamer than that. On the other hand, schools put coaches in that position by demanding that they win.

Grant, just got a comment on my post pointing to the VT press release that states:
“Yesterday afternoon [Jan 6], it came to our attention that Vick was charged in Hampton on December 17 exceeding the speed limit and with driving on a suspended or revoked license. It was not posted by the Hampton Court until January 5…the day before we became aware of it.”

I find that hard to believe. An entire university police department, administration, and coaching staff didn’t know about one of their players being arrested without a driver’s license for close to a month?

Rob - check this out:
CBS reports that Beamer knew about the ticket on Dec. 19. The article is here.

it’s kind of ironic that f.s.u. and bobby bowden were always accused of being spineless but he never did anything this obviously cowardly & “win at all cost” in it’s nature.

Good point on the whole FSU thing. Part of the reason is that they have cooler uniforms than VT…therefore, more sins are allowable.
