First of all, I was accosted this morning at church by Dr. Laura. Not that one, but the one that was sporting a Longhorn shirt.
What is up with you not giving my ‘horns their props on your blog??
Well, considered props given. I hope my Aggie in-laws will allow me this small discourse. (However, Franchione cured me of liking the Aggie football team.)
I think Vince Young should have won the Heisman.
I think there will be 2 or 3 or more bonehead NFL teams that won’t draft him.
I think the team that does draft him - Arizona? Green Bay? Jets? - will have not only one of the most freakish athlete in the draft but one of the most mature and classiest young men in college football. Without playing a down, he will make that franchise 50% better.
While Leinart sounded like a sore loser after the game - finding ways to undermine Texas, his teammates, and his defense, Young was looking for ways to give credit away - his coach, his defense, and his offensive line.
I have never seen a more dominating performance in my life. I have never heard a more gracious winner afterwards.

Grant,
Right on about VYoung’s dominating performance! But I hate to break it to you bro, but the reason 2 or 3 bonehead teams won’t draft him is because there are 2 or 3 bonehead players better than him.

matt jones, just as good a quarterback as vince young was for texas, and hes not playing qb in the league. if matt woulda had the talent texas did, he would of done the same, if not better. vinces arm is not near as strong as vicks and vick is struggling to be a quarterback in the nfl.

i agree that vince doesn’t have near as strong an arm as vick. but matt didn’t have anything close to the arm vince does. matt was just a good athlete, not qb.

the other major difference between Vince and matt jones - besides arm strength - is decision making. Vince’s poise and reading defenses and not forcing or panicking are on a completely different level than matt’s.

It pained me as an Oklahoma alum to root for the Longhorns. But, it was good for the Big XII conference, and stopped USC’s run at my alma mater’s record of 47 straight wins. And now that I’m done with that strange bedfellow. Avoid the rush, hate Texas early! BOOMER SOONER!

matt was the guy who had to make the plays, as he didnt have a cedric benson, a sweet defense, or a plethora of sick receievers. i still contend matt jones would of done the exact same on that longhorn team as quarterback, if not more.
