This is a great letter. I think his cautions are great but a bit skewed. I see ‘us’ emergents wanting to redeem the church, not throw it away. But good cautions, none-the-less.
I also don’t see that the whole movement as an age based phenomenon.

I like what he says as well. I have a question for Drury, though. Do you think having a home church would equal “giving up the church” in his mind? What is your thoughts on “home churches” Grant?

I’m not sure how Drury would answer. I do think he’d answer you though if you asked him.
My thoughts are this - for the first 200+ years, home churches were all there were. The idea ‘we’ have in the West as church is a relatively ‘new’ idea.
When you stop and think that without home churches there would be no ‘church’ in China or Egypt, I think that gives us the answer.

Both of his sons, David and John are ministers in the “emergent” and “wesleyan” traditions…both have some great reads.
