Davis to Replace Heath at Arkansas?

February 17th, 2006 · 11 Comments · 28 views

My turn to start a rumor. Mike Davis has ‘resigned’ at Indiana. His ‘pitiful’ record over the last 6 years? 109-76 overall, 51-40 in the Big Ten and one Final Four appearance. While replacing a legend and keeping a program from imploding. He’s a good coach and he will coach again. But where?

Enter Stan Heath. Personally - I like Stan Heath but the hub-bub around Arkansas is that if he doesn’t win or get to the NCAA’s - he’s gone. Which, is too bad. BUT if he is fired…hire Mike Davis.

And then finally I might become a Hog fan. Might.

Your loyalities are still to ‘Bama, where Davis played! I’m still pulling for Bob Huggins to take the reins at UA. He’s the best unemployed coach or soon-to-be unemployed coach on the market right now.

But, I agree…Davis is a gentleman and a terrific coach. IU has done itself a great disservice in its criticism of MD.

this is completely unrelated to your post, but i thought it might brigthen your day: as of this moment, the temperature in brandon, manitoba is -33 celsius, but with the windchill factor, the temperature is actually -50 celcius (thats -50 fahrenheit). kill me. kill me now.

from what I’ve heard, Mike Anderson at UAB is on Missouri’s list, and if he leaves, then Davis may be at the top of UAB’s list. But I don’t think Arkansas will go after Davis.

First, I am from Southern Indiana (Columbus, 30 mi East of Bloomington) and am a longtime IU fan. Second, I thought Knight needed to go and originally thought Davis was the man however…

Davis is not a head coach. He is a great assistant and an awesome recruiter. It pains me to say it but he rode Bobby Knight’s team to the Final Four and has since squandered some great talent.

On the other hand, he’s better than what the Razorbacks have now.

as a hog fan i think Davis could do some good with our team(but i don’t think they would hire him). now while i do like heath he just can’t put it all together. we have one of the best teams we’ve had in a few years and we are doing didly squat.

I don’t think we are really that good….or else we could hit shots. It is one thing to not be able to coach a good team, but I am not sure we are that good. I don’t know if Heath is the problem.

I can’t figure this team out because they will almost beat a really good team and then not a team that is not that good.

yeah…good point. I do think we have a lot of talent. I don’t know if its heath that can’t put it together or its them that just can’t get it done. i can’t figure them out either. i wouldn’t be surprised if we beat (or come close to beating) floriday tomarrow, but then again we did lose to ole miss who is terrible. we are way too unpredictable….i dunno

You gotta think that blowing sizable leads late in games like they do is because of poor coaching and game prep.

My first question is why does Davis get slammed for the same thing Roy Williams got accolades for - taking someone else’s team to the Final Four. If the other coach was so good - why couldn’t he get ‘em there?

Secondly - Huggins? Would you like to sit in the automatic weapon section or semi-automatic?

Why not just hire Eddie Sutton when he gets done with rehab? he ha hahahaa
