Scientology Hasn’t Learned Yet

My best friend loves South Park. I’ve made it through a couple of episodes. But I’m loving this latest soap opera with Isaac Hayes and Tom Cruise. And…I’m with Matt Stone and Trey Parker (the creators of South Park) on this one.

In case you’ve been under a rock the past couple of weeks - Isaac Hayes quit South Park because it made fun of Scientology. Tom Cruise got into the fray. Trey and Matt said - he didn’t have any problems getting paid to make fun Christians, Catholics, Mormons, or Muslims. It sounds like Isaac is the intolerant bigot.

Nice work. An equal opportunity offender. It’s about time we had that in Hollywood.

In response to the complaining of Hayes and others, Matt and Trey are going to do this - take the past recordings of Isaac Hayes and edit them to keep his character on the show. I think that’s funny.

Just take your licks from the media like a man, Scientologists!

(this opinion is based on watching about 10 episodes.)
The thing with South Park is they are equal opportunity offenders. The set out to offened everyone.
If you can get past the over-the-top aspect of the show, there is some pretty witty satire and social comentary.

And Issac didn’t have a problem with them making fun of Scientology at first. Someone must have gotten to him. ;-)

i must point out that you can’t really say ‘its about time’ on this one. (well, you can, but …)
‘the Simpsons’ have been equal-opportunity offenders for YEARS.
    :)

They just made a pretty funny episode making fun of the whole ordeal. Now Chef is compared to Darth Vader in the show.

Now Gman, you have to have some boudaries on who you are going to offend. I mean, seriously, you can’t just expect to be able to offend everyone… equally… I know that it’s fun to try, but I mean, you wouldn’t want to cause a stir and actually have people talk about what you or God is doing by being controversial. I mean, what would Jesus do, right? He would be open to the idea of offending the leaders of the church would he? That would just be too much.
