How many deaths had that Roman soldier seen? He was on crucifixion duty and a Roman soldier - so he probably had watched hundreds of men die. Yet there was something different about the way Jesus died. Enough of a difference to make the bold claim that Jesus was the son of God.
A friend of mine recently challenge me with Foster’s chapter on surrender in Celebration of Discipline. Allowing God be God, quit manipulating and ‘fixing’ the situation. I think the last 4 chapters have been the perfect illustration/definition of that.
Does anyone else find it ironic that the first “preachers” of the Gospel were women? I mean their testimony wasn’t even allowed in courts but the angel tells them - go tell the disciples the good story. And they weren’t believed.
