Today will be a day from the hot place.
Spent 2 hours on the phone with Dell. Motherboard on laptop is gone. $460 to replace it. Thank you for figuring out for me how to spend my tax refund. I really appreciate it.
Up next, Customer Service with American Airlines. I have a whole list of why American Airlines is the worst company in the world. I’ll save the whole list for later but Exhibit A was this….
We flew to Florida before Brazil to drop off kids. On return flight home with kids, they had overbooked the flight from Dallas to Little Rock. AA solution? Let’s put the three kids on the later flight (4 hour layover) and mom and dad on the early flight.
Try again.
Then they were going to charge us $150 to change the tickets. Then they tried to tell us that it was our fault for not linking all of the tickets together. (I’m sorry…I didn’t realize that your customers entered data into your system…) Then they put us in seats all over the plane. I finally looked at the counter agent - “You have to be more intelligent than this. Have to be. Just put us in the same area or I’ll release the 3 year-old all over the plane.”
Just a great start to the week.

It ain’t only American Airlines!!! I believe that as part of the airlines deregulated, they added some sort of line item that requires all employees to get a lobotomy before interacting with the public. At least that’s what I’m going to write up in my grand conspiracy theory.

“Just put us in the same area or I’ll release the 3 year-old all over the plane.”

That reminds me of the one time we flew with kids. We only had 2 at the time, 4 and 18 mos. As we found our seats on a connecting flight I noticed an older couple looking at our kids apprehensively like “oh great, kids…” So as we sat down I said, “you kids aren’t going to scream the whole way like last time are you?” I love messing with people.
BTW, Benadryl works wonders for long flights.

It’s the not the kids that are the problem on long flights…it’s the attendants. I think they forget they are supposed to be serving the customers instead of …whatever it is they do at the back of the plane….
this deserves a whole other post.
