Minor Regrets

July 11th, 2006 · 9 Comments · 26 views

Spending the weekend around my old stomping grounds got me thinking about my high school and middle school days.

I really sucked as a person back then. I might have been one of the most selfish butts on the planet in fact.

I wish I’d been a better brother to my younger brother. There’s like a 23 year age difference (not really) and I should have taken more interest in his activities.

I wish I’d been more interested in others than myself.

On the whole, I just wish I’d love Jesus more back then.

Enough remembering.

But all that has been redeemed or is still redeemable. Keep on.

I didn’t think you were a selfish butt. You were a teenager! I remember the guy who came home at curfew and sat on the kitchen counter talking with his mom til wee hours in the AM.

You did what you knew to do . Today you are looking at it from a totally different place with what you know now and a bunch of life experience behind you. Consider it in The Plan. Grace is awesome! What freedom it gives us to move forward!
    Love you much.

WOW, two thoughts here. One is I can totally relate to what you are saying. The second is I am very impressed with your mom’s sense of humor (from past comments) and her ability to encourage. What a great mom and person!

Well, I thought you were a selfish butt… :-) But then again, that seems to be somewhat synonymous with certain stages of being an “English Clan male”. Haha!

All of us can be selfish, it’s life. We grow, we adapt, and we move on.

By the way, your statement means a lot, assuming I am the younger brother you speak of… :-)

Grant you gotta look at this way everything that has happened, has happened for a reason. I don’t think you would be the same Grant we all know and love (well some of us love) if your life had been any different.

    I love ya bro.
