Clay asked a great question. So far, here’s my list.
1. Things that are immensely frustrating to me are immensely hilarious to my volunteers. Example…trying to explain to a student for the 15th time why we have meet times and why it’s important for him to show up. See Brazil and Harry Potter.
2. Never underestimate tradition.
3. Refuse to value “nice.” “Nice” is compromising, vanilla, and has no impact. Value authenticity and risk instead.
4. Change in an organization is expensive but it’s worth it every time.
5. A few deep, close friends is better than being well known.
6. It’s good to push and be pushed to be better.
7. Failure is acceptable. Quitting isn’t.
8. Half a plan fully implemented is better than a full plan halfway implemented.
9. It’s possible to be so completely in love with something that reality ceases to matter. See Arkansas Football.
10. Investing in leaders multiplies the Kingdom, not just merely adds to it.
I’ll add more later…
