Over the next two weeks I’m going to preach possibly the hardest sermons I’ve ever had to preach.
Not because they are the last ones at Grace.
Not because I have 108 emails and phone calls to respond to on top of sermon prep and moving details.
Because I’m dealing with the topic of marriage and divorce.
And stupid me - I’m starting with Hosea and Gomer. Every heard a sermon on Hosea and Gomer? Neither have I. Then next week I tackle Jesus and Matthew 19 - his “teaching” on divorce.
Smooth, Grant. You’re leaving and now is the time to pull out softball sermons, not these.
The troubling thing is the more I read the story of God - the more I’m uncomfortable with the implications it has on marriage for the believer. I’ll unpack more tomorrow - both in the sermon and possibily on the blog.
To “lighten” the mood, I’m opening the sermon with the opening scene in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

G - heard E.K. Baily do Hosea in first person while I was at Southwestern - incredible!
Can’t wait to hear what God puts on your heart.
