Strength for the Task

In a few minutes, I’m loading up with Matt Davis and my iPod (which is more important on this trip? Debatable…) heading to Kansas to speak at the KNCSB Youthworkers Conference.

Why? Because I love youth pastors and youth volunteers and they couldn’t find anybody else. I love ‘em to death. I love them because selfishly they’ve made me a better person and that kind of dedication is rare to serve with. Really is. Some of the best youth pastors in the world are in churches that we never hear of and will never crack the 100 barrier with students.

The average length a volunteer lasts in a particular ministry is around 6 months. That number is completely skewed of course by the person who showed up to one meeting and went - “What the heck have I done” compared to the one volunteer who is 62 and still hanging out with teens. (That’s a true story, by the way.)

I’m speaking on Reaching the Post-Christian Culture.

A friend of mine commented - so basically you are going to tell them everything you did at your last church that forced you to move.

Uhhh….yeah, I guess so. But I really can’t complain about that because…well…just look at my blog the last 30 days and it seems to have worked out for everybody.

We are going to try to record it. Then you can really hear how desparate they were!

What happened today???? Is Mississippi State getting better or did Alabama just play bad? We play State in two weeks. Thats kind of scary.

Halftime: AR 23 SC 6. I hope we put it in Spuriers face. I hope we come out the 2nd half and put another 23 on the board. He had Florida kick a field goal against us several years ago with a little over a minute to play and up by 30.

Anyway…sorry to rant on your blog. Hope your weekend went well.

[...] Clay’s comment of all these Doctors on the docket then me is probably well deserved. But none of them sported a Bronco jersey or an earring. So I got that going for me. [...]
