I’ll take pictures tomorrow but the house is packed…
The rooms are silent…
The walls are bare…
8807 Old Spanish Trail is packed…tomorrow we’ll load.
Will I miss it?
No.
The house and memories are wonderful but that hill is AWFUL!!! The only time it was good was when it snowed and we used it as a sled hill. I think we took out a couple of trash cans and a stop sign that day.
Seriously - I’ll miss our friendships but a house is a house.
Right?

At every move we have had, I walk through the empty house, one more time. I leave the tired broom and mop in the closet and lock up. It has always been a bittersweet ending….leaving the friendships, memories and consistencies. As I watch the moving truck pull off with almost every personal belonging we have….I trust that God has gone before us. So He moves us on to the next place on His map. What confidence you can have that this is His move for you and Amy and the C’s!
We love you and are so excited to see you Wed.

a house is always just a house. definitely. it’s the memories and the people who came through the house. (although my family’s last house was pretty stinkin’ cool)
and frankly, you’re in colorado. and colorado has mountains. and snow. and mountains. and ray.

G,
You still going through town on Wednesday? Since you are already packed I was curious if you will leave earlier? If things are crazy don’t feel like you have to stop. If you are anything like me it is hard to stop once the train is moving…only stops for gas, you can only urinate when we stop for gas, otherwise hold it. At, least, that was before I got married. I am sure with kids that changes the rules a bit as well.
We would love to see you, but please don’t feel obligated. If you do stop and want food, some options are:
1. Slim Chicken - great mashed taters, great chicken, right off the bypass.
2. Penguin Ed’s BBQ - great everything, especially the cookies. Not far from bypass.
3. Guido’s Pizza - great Pizza, great beer, wait, your driving so ixnay the beer
Close to said bypass
4. JD China - supposedly good quick Chinese place near bypass.
5. Brenda’s bigger burger - nough said, close to bypass.
So, that should cover just about every type of food. If there are any other request, just let me know.

Am I the only one with tears in my eyes as I read this blog? I feel really sad! I couldn’t walk through my house when all was said and done - still can’t picture it in my head. It’s so full of memories and reminders of friends who live too far away now!

see i would have to disagree with the “house is a house” statement. i’m not talking in a materialistic “i need an expensive house” sort of way. rather, i think the house takes on the memories that are developed within it - sometimes because of the house, sometimes in spite of the house. there have been houses that i was glad to leave, though i did have some great memories in them, and there are houses that i hated leaving. the house pam and i owned in missouri was a hard house to leave. we loved it.
