Church was even more awesomer than usual yesterday. Mainly because our worship leader - Josh Wheeler - gave me two tickets for the Bronco-Seahawk game. Matt Davis and I went to see the Rook debut. I’ll talk more about that - but first the experience.
Our seats were great - they were upper deck but the view was awesome.
It was also loud. I mean - the rafters were physically shaking under my feet. We rode the Rail down there which was not only cheap but convenient. As we were walking in, we walked by a lady screaming spanish to her son with a cooler full of burritos. No brainer. Should have bought more but the one I had was awesome.
Invesco is cool in that it allows you to bring in food and plastic bottles in (non-alcoholic). The layout is awesome and easy to navigate. Gorgeous place to watch a game.
When Al Wilson went down in the 4th quarter, you could hear the whole stadium just gasp. He’s not just a huge fan favorite but he’s the quarterback for the defense. He makes most of the defensive play calls. And he’s a nice guy. So when the cart hit the field, fans starting chanting his name. After that - the defense kind of just rolled over.
As far as Cutler’s performance - I think the local newspaper here are completely over-reacting. He’s a rookie and given that - his performance was fine. He’s going to get better. He had glimpses of greatness and I think long-term he’s going to be awesome.
Everyone is ripping Shanahan for the decision saying that he “gave up” on this season by going to a rookie quarterback. Here’s what I think - I think Shanny saw the holes that this ENTIRE team has and knew there was little chance this team makes the playoffs in the AFC and if they did - it was going to be an early exit.
The offensive line can’t pass protect.
The receivers can’t get open.
The backs can’t hold on to the ball.
Special teams can’t tackle or hold on to the ball.
The defense can’t finish and put away teams.
The Broncos just aren’t that good of a team. We’re getting the most out of what we’ve got. The quarterback is the least of worries so if the team is going to take their licks - let the Rook get his snaps.
Having said that - the last 3 minutes of that game took us on a roller coaster ride of emotions - from disappointment to elation to despair.
I hope Shanny sticks with Cutler, rolls the dice and sees what happens!

There is a lot of that “just aren’t that good of a team” going around this year. :/
But my hubby had way better seats for his game. (my dad’s wife has Packer season ticket and Sunday was our first ever chance to use them)
You can his pic on my blog.
