You had to figure that Nick was going to Alabama all the time because Alabama kept after him. The media kept saying - “Alabama just doesn’t get it.” The problem is - they get it all to well. If Saban had told them no, they would have moved on.
But Saban didn’t tell them no. He told everyone else no. Alabama had been down this road before with Franchone. “I’m not leaving TCU!” “I’m not leaving Alabama.”
There is no questioning Saban’s skill as a game-planner and recruiter. He’ll do well at Alabama.
I just hope the next time there is change - it starts with Mal Moore and Robert Whit. Not the coach.

Sometimes jobs aren’t what you thought and the job changes quickly in light of new circumstances. You work through the process with those that can help you truly decide. You can be forthright with those folks in the know, but those that don’t need to know or would cause more of a fuss if you were open get told what they need to hear or get told nothing at all. Right or wrong, lying or not, that’s how it works. Also, minds can be changed during the process.

Plus it’s hard to jam a guy for taking a $35 million job offer with no chance of the owner selling the team to somebody else.

heck yeah…I’d go coach Bama for half that — but no less! I probably wouldn’t make it past the first practice, but then they’d have to buy me out and I wouldn’t have to work for the rest of my life.

I’m with Wayne.. in fact i’m going to be submitting my resume for the next coaching search. Sounds like a great retirement plan to me!
