My wonderful dad had a flight out at 7.26…..in the morning.
That meant getting to the airport at 6….in the morning.
Which meant leaving our house at 5.15…..in the morning.
Which meant getting up at 4.30……in the morning.
I love Dad and Mary very much. And we will miss them. But that was early. It was a great visit otherwise.
You’d think that with a divorced family that there would be tense moments. Maybe there were years ago but I really have to hand it to all the moms and dads in my situation - they all get along. No arguments or no intense moments. That’s rare. I’ve seen so many families completely destroyed because the mom and dad are so focused at getting back at the other that everyone else gets hurt in the process.
I think both sides (in my situation) have done their best to avoid that. It wasn’t easy, I imagine, especially when I was a little kid. It sure as heck wasn’t the perfect way to grow up. There were some slips and stumbles - but they have made the best out of what could have been a disastrous situation.
And I’m so thankful for that now. Especially now that I have my own kids and they love playing with all 3 sets of their grandparents!

While I don’t know of a perfect way for any of us to grow up, in a divorce the possibilities are endless for disaster.
Children really can’t have too many people in their lives that love them and want the best for them. I am thankful that we all had this same philosophy. I am thankful that you didn’t experience any more hurt than you did. With the 3 C’s , how could anything be any better. We are blessed they want to play and be with all the 3 sets!
Love you all.

PS You don’t have to worry about your mom going to the airport at 6AM ! ha ha

The first flight was at 7:56 PM, but Mary fixed that. We did not get to Grove Hill until 12:00 midnight. We had a traffic jam on the tarmac in Atlanta. The flight was delayed 45 minutes. We thought we would get into Pensacola at 8:15 PM instead it was 9:05 PM, then a 2 hour drive home. What time did you get to bed?
Great trip, fun skiing, lots of great food, the 3 C’s were incredible and growing up too fast!!
What about Dad (Grant) taking a 7 year old down a double black diamond slope? I can understand taking me down that kind of slope. Blue… black.. they all look difficult that late in the afternoon. I should have gone with Cooper.
love you
Dad

FOR THE RECORD….
Camber WANTED to go skiing out of bounds. I thought the double diamond was a fair compromise.
