The 1st Fantasy Football Article of the 2007-2008 Season

I have a problem. We get to keep 2 keepers this year. The rules are simple - if you keep 2, you lose your first two rounds of picks.

The problem is my team last year was a complete meltdown. The worst in all my years of fantasy football. I dread keeping any of them due to the bad mojo of last year. But from my roster - here are the only viable options I see…and it’s not encouraging.

Jay Cutler, QB DEN
Rex Grossman, QB CHI

Edgerrin James, RB ARI
Clinton Portis, RB WAS
Julius Jones, RB DAL

Chris Chambers, Chris WR MIA
Terry Glenn, WR DAL

Jeremy Shockey, TE NYG

Or I punt it all and just gamble on having the first two picks of the first two rounds. Which is a thought given how bad my team sucked last year.

Wow…I see your dilema. The only one I’d even consider keeping would be Cutler (and that’s only because he has a chance of having a big career…who knows about this year).

the only one on that list worth keeping is portis, but that is still questionable. he is coming off an injury and ledell betts will be splitting carries with him.

cutler is still too young to throw away a chance at a qb that will help you this season, and your receiver, tight end, and other rbs are no good.

I’m leaning towards keeping Cutler only for the future. In a keeper league - most of the other QB’s are gone. In our league where you get 2 keepers, it’s worth keeping a young QB that has the potential to be awesome.

As far as the others - I can’t really argue with you.

So it looks like I’m getting a pick in the second round.

What’s wrong with Chambers? He now has Green throwin his way and he could see a lot more receptions this year, and touchdowns. I would maybe say Cutler for next year, but it is still way too early to tell with him.

Keep Chambers, he’ll have a much better year than last, I guarantee that.

For some reason the words “Trent Green will be throwing to him” didn’t have the same effect on me as it did you, Michael. :)
