Belicheat Caught

September 12th, 2007 · 4 Comments · 42 views

So Bill Belicheat was caught video taping and stealing signals from the Jets sideline. What is the commission going to do?

I have no idea but I know what he should do.

What happens to a player when he cheats? He misses games and isn’t allowed to practice with the team.

That’s what Goodell should do to Belicheat. Suspend him a couple of games and be done with it.

Taking away draft choices from the Patriots is like taking away salad from a defensive lineman. The Patriots are so stacked, it’s unlikely anyone they draft next year makes the team (besides that, they only have two picks next year.)

I agree with the suspension. I say four games and take their two draft picks anyway.

thing is bellichick knows everybody else who does it. i guarantee you that he is not the only coach (i have inside information if you are wondering) and that he just got caught. last year he was going to turn in a certain crimson tide coach for doing the same things but he knew that that coach knew he was doing it too.

I said they should crack down on Bill and any other coaching staff that engage in such activities or get rid of the rule.

I think a suspension or substantial fine plus a draft pick would be sufficient.

The Pats were caught once before against the Packers in 2003 but it went unreported. After the game Al Harris said, “It’s almost like they knew what we were doing, you know? You have to tip your hat to them. They ran plays designed for us. They ran plays that made us check out of some things. I don’t know who calls their plays, but Belichick is pretty good. Honestly, he’s pretty good.”

I dunno, I’m mixed. Some might call it competitive intelligence. Now since there is an NFL rule against it, then yeah, whatever. But why make a rule against figuring out what your competition is doing. Heck, that’s part of business is watching and learning and trying to guess (from signals given in the past) what the competition is planning. Yeah, there are ethical gray areas that cross quickly into corporate espionage, but welcome to the real world — a corporation or a football team can’t operate in a vacuum. It’s just business and it’s a silly rule to have let alone bother enforcing.
