The Tide and the Hogs

September 24th, 2007 · 12 Comments · 33 views

I’m not an Arkansas fan but I can empathize with them.

The Tide lost a close game with a good Georgia team. What Saban has done with the same talent that Shula had is pretty impressive. Can’t wait until Alabama gets some talent and experience.

I was talking with my dad about the Tide and he commented - “I hope one day that Saban gets a back as talented as McFadden. Love to see what he’d do with that kind of talent.”

Which got me thinking about all my friends who are Arkansas fans. Gotta be one weird year…you are going to have a Heisman Trophy winner, a losing record, and with a new AD at Arkansas - possibly a new coach.

Yes, Its really nice having one of the best players ever, and still cant win a game.
Me and Kayla wanted them to put Clay in instead of the first string defense, just so we didn’t have to shut our eyes!

    “possibly a new coach”

    if we’re lucky…

grantney, ye of little faith. we arent going to have a losing record, i know that much. this year is going opposite of last year where we got all the breaks, now we havent gotten any. we will use north texas and ut chatanooga to get back on path.

It’s funny how Alabama losing made me feel a little better about our loss. Can’t really explain it b/c I like you Grant and want you to be blessed. Maybe it is comforting knowing you aren’t the only one “hurting” at times.

I really think Clay is right. We have had some REALLY bad breaks…like two defenders bumping into each other in mid air trying to block a field goal and one deflecting off the other to hit the kicker resulting in a touchdown instead of a missed field goal. Still don’t see how or why that is a personal foul. It was not intentional and did nothing to hurt the kicker or alter the play. It was just good effort gone awry. Or your two best running backs getting the stomach flu..in the same game..at the same time. Or your coach calling the same play three times in a row…oops, did I just say that? I didn’t really mean that, I don’t think. Thank goodness for North Texas and UTC for getting us back to above 500.

I did not make the game Saturday due to travel limitations put on myself because of my wifes impending pregnancy. I am glad I wasn’t there.

All that to say…I feel your pain.

Grant. did you mean to say “emPhasize” or “empathize”?

  • 6 wayne // Sep 24, 2007 at 7:36 pm

you can “emphasize” with them? Did you mean “empathize”?

Being 4-0 it’s hard to empathize with you guys — but I can emphasize who will be this year’s national champions — Geaux Tigers!

i was there. i enjoyed watching mcfadden gain 173 yds. i enjoyed watching jones run back a kickoff return for a td. i didn’t enjoy watching a predictable offense gained a few yds less than 500 yds, and only put up 13 points. wayne, the tigers and the gators are the cream of the sec crop. can’t wait to see them play.

I had an “outsider” who thinks he knows a lot about football tell me this weekend that Arkansas will win out except for LSU - that with that exception, no other teams will put the passing strain on our secondary. I hope he’s right - Arkansas has had it’s share of creating it’s own bad luck this season and the last 3 games from last year. But, not matter how you slice it, being ahead with the ball and momentum in the 3rd quarter of your last 4 conference losses in a row is how I define “finding a way to loose”.

What is the deal with our conditioning…they are looking like me after I walk up a flight of stairs (cramps, vomiting, IVs).

There - changed my typo…benefits of typing and posting with no proof-reading. My English teacher would be so proud…NOT.

LSU - bunch of cheaters and steriod takers. And yes, I’m a sore loser.

The Tide have their own uphill road - Florida State, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn and now that Ole Miss is playing well - that’s not a gimme game either.

Hogs - Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee, LSU…not pretty.

I thought you were “emphasizing” that we have few good players and the rest suck…
