Something the Lord Made

G 4 StarA movie from HBO about the life of Vivien Thomas. I’m guessing you don’t know that name but he was the man who helped start cardiac surgery. And he was black.

The movie follows the typical lines of race relationship kinds of movies. Mos Def playing Vivien Thomas? Another rapper who wants to be a movie star? Well…Mos Def can most definitely act. (See what I did there???) Mos (do you call him Mos? Or Mr. Def?) Def delivered an incredible performance, holding his own on the screen with the always spectacular Alan Rickman.

Rickman plays his mentor and friend, both characters are deep and both actors delivered some incredible acting.
